There is rain on the way later today and I head out at 7:30am to beat the wet weather. As again the route to my accommodation was not ideal I plotted a better way to get back on track. I hope it is not cheating to cut the corners in dropping off the path to the night's stay.
Signage remains good and as indicated below this part is shared with the E2, an international path.

I enjoy a late lunch in Rochester at an independent wholefood cafe and there is an actual real-life beatnik (beret, roll top sweater and corduroy trousers) perched at the counter with a not-so 1960s apple device and espresso. This particular beat generation individual of the Sputnik era (hence beatnik) is 65+ so perhaps be was a beatnik (parents permitting!) and never updated his wardrobe. Jack Kerouac was one of the founders of the movement and wrote his classic book "On The Road" in three weeks typing onto a continuous reel of paper which I was lucky enough to see at the British Library when I was reading the book. It has to be noted that the background work for the book had been dine over a much longer time and the three weeks was the typing up time though still impressive.
